Observation Narrative ? Sampling site is an interdune swale with very dense graminoid vegetation, located behind a primary dune and about 100 meters from the ocean. According to Dot Field, the swale is flooded for periods of the growing season, in very wet weather and following storm surges. However, its overall hydrology was subjectively assessed as saturated. Although Spartina patens strongly dominates the vegetation, several other species - e.g., Strophostyles helvula, Fimbristylis caroliniana, Solidago sempervirens var. sempervirens, and Andropogon glomeratus var. glomeratus - are locally abundant throughout.
